    Joelle’s Enigmas
    Das Ewig-Weibliche Zieht uns hinan.

“Alles Vergängliche Ist nur ein Gleichnis ; Das Unzulängliche, Hier wird’s Ereignis ; Das Unbeschreibliche, Hier ist’s getan ; Das Ewig-Weibliche Zieht uns hinan”
    Goethe.

    A Writer Never Dies.
Under the Effigies and Auspices of Ludwig Wittgenstein and the Linguistic Turn, this story needed a new language. That is why this is also the story of French-American Modernism. A. Gide and G. Genette would say : every novel contains a romance theory and a theory about novels. From a Theoretical Romance to romance of theories. Considering all hypotheses and all hypotheses considered. Samuel Beckett invented his style by moving from the English, the Irish of Puritanism to the French of Modernism. Modernity started when we realised that we are shaped by words. Or in other terms, the Vienna Circle.

This love story could be written in many ways, in different chronological structures, from different perspectives. It is of course about love, and about a girl, a woman, and a very special lady, with ginger hair and green eyes, like the… green berets. Every Chapter focuses on a fragment. This love story is about the different styles of CIA and DGSE. But it is mainly fiction. It could be called “autofiction”. This love story is about “Arab Dreams” and American Dreams, with a perfect match.. A Moroccan Rifi from Casablanca who dreamed to be a writer, a free thinker shall we say, and a Scottish Ginger Fit Ass Warrior, who saved him and made him. Usually boys save girls, knights save princess, in this romance, the knight is a woman. It’s also about sperm and clitoris, and their spirituality. They say Clitoris could bring peace to earth and peace of mind. Big Debates. Joanna’s Clitoris sparked heated debates in the 8th Arrondissement of Paris. Read this as a special invitation to explore… some American Madness. Hefty story, hefty debates, hefty equations (and yes I like the word hefty, it comes from a pilot called Angus Haywood, thanks Angus), so let’s look for hefty words. And let’s ask Samuel Beckett and James Joyce for inspiration, blessing and bénédiction.

Mettre des mots sur l’ineffable. Putting words to the ineffable. Did they forget that love makes you strong ? Pierre Bourdieu warned us about “Post-Truth” Hoy ! So back to Modernity and Modernism and Cassirer and Joyce ! Where did the “Post-Modern” shit came from ? The “acceleration” of History that started with Internet and Facebook may have produced a Homo Numericus. Did Neoliberalism and New Individualism create fear, anxiety, violent competition, and the “End Of Love” ?

Serait-ce la fin de l’amour, du sexe hétérosexuel et de l’amour ? Or Eva Illouz was misunderstood ? Her face is now the proof that American Love can create History. Her name is probably Joëlle or Joëlla. She is probably an exceptional Officer of the Department of War. She appeared in his life like the famous “apparition” proustienne. Une apparition romanesque. And the rest is romance, and the rest is a novel.

Which Language shall we use ? An interrogation on language. Is Modernity a period of time or a philosophical paradigm associated to liberalism ? And how big is modernity ? Is it an Era like when humans invented writing ? Or is modernity something like James Joyce and Dos Passos and Faulkner. Anyways. This récit is gonna be a récit of love. Let’s see if you are familiar with polyphonie and intertextualité.

To find a new language. Living on benefits. He went to Mollat Bookstore. Does she like Shakespeare ? Oh she went to Fac de Lettres ? So maybe I should start again, with WB. Yeats and William Blake. When was that ? Almost ?
